Default Plastic Restoration

Being cheap, I want to "fix" my blue plastics that have white streaks in them from crashes
I searched this forum and found this (note the words NEW BLUE, post was old)

"Just a note about the new blue Yamaha plastic. If you tweak the plastic and you get white marks where it has been bent. You can use a heat gun to get the white marks out of the plastic. The heat gun will remove the white marks but it may also dull the shine of the plastic somewhat. Bruce Crowe 99' Wolverine 99' 400EX"

Anyone know if this will work
or have other suggestions that work?

Doesn't work too well. Tried it on one of my kids' Blasters on blue plastic. When you get it hot enough to do anything, you can take out some white but you're left with a big ugly dull splotch where it was hot. I've tried several things on plastic, inclucing those phony restoration formulas, and the best thing is to get it real clean, armor-all it, and call it good. The only other thing you can do is buy new plastic.
