First of all what type of riding do you do? If you tend to always give your atv gas as in going up hill ext. Then a twist throttle is not the thing to do in my opinon. The reason is, if you have a twist while going up a hill the incline of the hill and the gravity pulling back on you it will make your hand pull back as well and you will or might tend to give it more gas than what you want and there you are on the other side of the hill upside down crying for help. This is the reason why every atv has a thumb throttle on it when you buy it stock from a retailer. Just keep working your thumb and you will build you muscles in your thumb and it will solve this problem. It just takes time and alot of riding to prevent this matter.

GOOD AND SAFE RIDING TO YOU AND YOUR FELLOW TEAM MATES!!!

If you do lots of trail riding, i.e. moderate riding, then you might consider a ThumbSaver. You can get them for about $16. If you ride a little more extreme, then the twist is the way to go.

The thumb throttle is on all quads, not as a safety precaution, but because they have always been there. Sounds stupid? It is. But that is the way our world works on a lot things. MX riders have always used twist throttles which allows for greater control. With the twist, you can hold on to the handle bars with a closed fist and still operate the throttle, but with the thumb throttle you are always holding on with a half open grip. In many rough situations I find my right hand is the more likely to loose the bar than the left.

Let us know what you decide.

I know this might sound a little wierd, but I have a friend who has taken his twist throttle and reversed it. Instead of twisting toward your body he has to twist away. He does alot of wheelies and loves to hill climb so he moded it that way. He says he loves it and would never go back to any other type of throttle. It really makes sence if ya think about it.... if ya fall off then your natural reaction would be to pull toward yourself... hence.... no throttle....I guess after you get used to it that might be the way to go. But to each his own LOL

How long have you been riding for? When i first started the thumb always got sore. But after a while you'll get used to it and it wont hurt anymore. Twist throttle is a matter of opinion.

Motion pro makes a really good kit if you do go with a twist throttle.

Im putting a twist throttle on mine mainly due to cost. I broke my thumb throttle last year. New thumb throttle 75 dollars twist throttle 15 dollars. I have rode dirt bikes and street bikes for most of my life so hopefully it wont cause me any problems
