dont laugh, I know Im dumb when it comes to the electrics of a bike. Hey I have an old honda 200sx engine laying around and I wanted to start it and see if it ran. I have the carb with throttle and air box but thats it. There is a cover on the head area that says cdi with two wires coming from it. there is also some wires coming from the magnito cover. is there any way I can connect these to the spark plug? if anyone is familiar with this bike or can help me please.

That's not a 200SX engine. The 200SX model has the pickup coil with the stator and flywheel on the bottom end.

The wires coming from behind the CDI cover on the topend will make it a early version 200 engine that Honda put in all kinds of stuff in the early 1980s. It is a different design engine than the 200SX.

You will have to have the CDI box that goes with that style engine along with the wireharness, or you could make one.

If you can get me the serial number from that engine and post it here, I can tell you the year model of the engine and what exactly the engine came from.

1984 ATC200M Three Wheeler Engine.....192cc.....Electric and Recoil Start.....5 Speed Trans.....Auto Clutch.....Chain Drive


If you decide to make up a harness, you will need an ignition coil from any early to mid '80s Honda ATV and the CDI box from the following models ONLY........1984-1985 ATC125M and 1984-1985 ATC200M
