Seat cover install - which stapler ?
#1
I cant seem to find a stapler that works. Today I bought a Stanley
Super Shot and a Sears electric (both heavy duty) and the staples
wouldnt penetrate the plastic seat base. I looked at the sears air
staplers and they dont shoot anything shorter than 3/8" staples (too
long). I've tried two different staple styles too.
What stapler does the job ?????

I used a powershot when I did mine....you really need to apply a ton of pressure and try to make sure you don't let the stapler bounce when you push the handle down.
For the tuff ones that would not go all the way in, I used a small hammer to finish the job. it's held up fine for the last few years.

you have to have a pneumatic stapler, I didn't have access to one when I installed my seat cover so i went to menards and got a box of 1/2" #8 square head screws and some #8 washers and used them to hold my sea cover down, it worked great and wont rip through.

I used an pnuematic stapler it worked awesome. I went and bought one but i do believe you might be able to rent them too but for the hassle I would just spend the money if you cant rent one and just buy it but make sure you get one that can use a small staples. Mine was like $90 but is shoots small staples that wont be able to feel in the top of the seat. The staples are almost like convential paper staples but little bit higher guage but it seemed to hold fine but i put a ton of staples in to be safe but its easy just pull the trigger and bang they are all the way in.

Make sure the staples are not too long as after some rides they might pop through and make holes int o the material and tear. My 2 cents worth since I used staples that were too long.

if you arent set up for air (and have the right gun) (that accepts 1/2" staples),,,,just go to the losal upholstery shop. (like mentioned)

I tried it again and made a very firm contact and the staples went in better - but, it seemed like I couldnt keep things in order while pushing and holding the seat and trying to keep things aligned. Every other staple went about 1/2 way in so I bailed. Some of them just folded over.
