how do you take the oil filter off? Do you have to have a special tool? Because it ain't coming off with my hands, and the one you use to take off a car oil filter is too big. I guess you have to buy the tool to take off the oil filter, huh?

Heres my thoughts...there is no use for a used oil filter, so why keep it pretty. I dont know how extensive your tool box is, but I use a rather large tongue and groove pliers (one that adjusts larger or smaller) to twist it off. Sure, it may dent the filter, but there are unlimited uses for a pliers. Maybe not a bad idea to have one on hand.

Those strap wrenches work good too.

I always take a small car oil filter wrench, and wrap up a towel over the filter, and then slide the wrench on over the towel. Comes off easy.

I use the K&N oil filter. It has a nut on the end . Just put a wrench on it and turn it off.

I use a huge pair of channel lock pliers. Who cares about a few scratches on the new one?

The tool made by yamaha is less than ten buck if I remember right and it just fits on the end of a 1/4in socket driver.
