Default oil changes-whats up?

Honda recommends every 7500 miles for my accord. Chevy says every 3000 for my mini van. What's up with that?

I just bought a hyundai for the wife. the owners manuel says to change oil every 7000 miles But the dealer said that I will void the warranty if it's not changed every 3500. I think it's just another way of getting more of your money

Kind of funny.. the accord will go 200k miles with no work, and the chevy cant make it a month with out a break down. Whats up with that?

My Honda manual says to change it every 10000 miles if not extreme driving conditions. (Something like that.)

Every day driving is "extreme" conditions. Hot and cold, stop and go. 70 degrees and 65 mph non stop for 7500 miles is what they consider normal. Change you oil and filter every 3000 mies or three months.

whats up whit that ? .....huh

what a dipsh*t statement that is !!! sorry dude , I could not resist.
let me start by saying , I've worked for Honda (cars) and GM (general motors) as well.

#1 people that buy honda (cars) will spend $$$ and do the scheduled maintanance at 6K 15K 30K miles and so on. because those people want the car to last.

I can not say the same for people that buy american made cars. GM in this case. they just want to drive the sucker and let warranty cover everything that goes wrong. even if it is the owners fault. like when your kid breaks the remote mirror switches, tirn signal lever and what not. GM dealer will warranty the darn thing under 3 year 36000miles warranty just to get "customer satisfaction" and make you happy. I hated it when a customer came in with a straight face and said : I was driving down the road and the turnsignal level has fallen in my lap by it self.

you try this crap at honda and they will show you the door or sell you a $300 multi function turn signal level and you will be happy.

once the warranty runs out and people start bitching about having to spend some money on repairs, then all of the sudden it is a sh *t car, right ???

back to the topic, change your oil in your car every 3000 miles or 3 months ..... it is cheap
don't let the manual confuse you.
you do not drive under normal driving conditions, 99 % of the people don't ....unless you warm up you car every morning to normal operting temp. before taking off then you drive on the highway for 30 + miles with out any city driving.
stop and go , rapid temp changes , dusty conditions , long idleing times in trafic, towing , or short trips are all extreme conditons.

if you do lots of highway driving every day , then you can go longer intervals. even 5-6000 miles.
or if you use synthetic oil, you can also go longer oil changing intervals because synthetic oil breaks down slower than conventional.

zsebi, Just going off experience.
Were all just expressing opinions here, You can drive what you want, and believe what you want.
Heres some facts... toyota just pulled past ford, for being number two in world wide sales. ford and gm discount like crazy, honda and toyota dont. Check the resale value of ford and chevy, and compare to honda and toyota.
Im not the only one who has wised up and bought quality over price. Im getting to the point in life, i dont care to do anymore wrenching, at least on mine. All I want to do, is change oil and put in gas....and the honda still wont break down. I too, have worked on cars, over 25 years, Id buy american, if it were equal to a honda. But ive seen too much over the years, to blindly buy american.

well same goes to you "hondabuster"......believe and drive what you want.
I would not trade my pontiac boneville for any paper-clip honda.
american cars are much more advanced, take the boneville for example; HUD=head up display auto climate control, power everything , strong motor , smooth ride , luxurius all around; variable power steering assist, speed compansating audio volume and passive security all standard. and so on and on......
you can keep that manual transmission standard, wooden seated cloth interrior jap crap, and make the japs rich at the same time.
now you got me going about cars.
sorry could not resist.
if you worked on cars for 25 years ,you may also recall that in the early 80s GM cars were all fuelinjected , when honda still had that carburated crap runnin with a gazzilion vacuum hoses and solonoids all around., same goes for air bags and such , they copyed off of us.

now you make me want to burn my honda rancher and buy an americanmade polaris.
now you gotme all worked up, I got to go and beat the hell out of my neighbor or some one.
just kidding.
