02 Scrambler 400 2x4 Mods
#1
I am new to the forum but have been reading the postings for about 6 mo's. I have made some mods to my Scram but I was wondering
what mods should I make next. The modifications that I have made so far are, K&N filter, V force 2 reeds, and T9 Pro series wheels with holeshot tires. I do a lot of trail riding and I was wondering if a agressive clutch kit or a pipe mod or both would be the next step. Would appreciate any input on my next mode. I had a 99 Sport. Same quad as the Scrambler 2X4. I had a HPD pipe and clutch kit. It made all the difference in the world. I then added the Delta V Force reeds, and it made it even better. You might want to consider changing the piston, as the stocker is a weak point when you start adding mods.

Hpd pipe and clutch kit is hard to beat for bolt on performance. The horsepower gain is REAL noticeable. Night and day actually. RcR is also an option with his Stage I kits for the best bang for the buck. And great customer service from both. Quadfather has a point about the piston. Not a necessity but good insurance.

Ya gotta have a pipe!!! most any aftermarket pipe will be much better than stock. HPD or Hotseat are best. Soon as you do a top end job, put in a wisco piston and HPD trail porting. Might want to put on a better head then. When you get used to that setup and want more, try a 42 mm carb. That is a real kick!! As long as you don't go too agressive with your clutch springs all this hp will still work well for trail riding. An agressive spring will cause the clutch to engage at a higher RPM - becomes difficult to go slow. Good luck!

Dont forget Aaen the make a great pipe and clutch kit too.Personally like their customer service. But dont over clutch if you are into trails. And as for porting I would check with Bubba267 on the forums here. From what I have seen and talked with him about he is good and reasonable too.Good luck on the mods it can get mind boggling but once you know what you want you can find it.I mix and match to fit my needs but it takes time.

First of all, I want to thank all of you for your input, it is greatly appreciated. After reading the feedback, I think the next step is going to be a WISECO piston install. And then after that, I would like to get a clutch kit that engages quickly, and a pipe muffler from HPD. If you have any suggestions or recommendations on what type of clutch kit to install, I would appreciate the input.
Thanks

I'm currently rebuilding my top end of my polaris 400 sport. I have put a dg pipe with a silencer, v force reeds, k&n filter, I just got my cylinder bored 40 over yesterday, and currently waiting for a 42mm carb., a weisco piston, and pro design cool head. it's funny because you live in the same town as me, e-mail me and maybe I can help you with something. mike21@cableone.net
