Okay, gota question on a drag race, im 15 y/o, 6' 160 pounds riding a stock 04 predator. my girlfriends mom (yes thats right, i said mom) wants to drag me on concrete, she has a 02 stock VW bug turbo. I wanna know how badly i will be stomped into the ground in a 300ft drag lol. any opinions would be great. i needa practice with her, so i can beat on my sisters escort ZX2 when she wants to drag.

 

i bet you could take that vw... on concrete you are gonna hook up quite well.. you aint gonna wanna pop the clutch or you will just go over the bars.

 

Please don't be racing quads against cars. If something should happen, you'd be nothing but roadkill. Use your head.

 

Now Ken, we've all been there and done that. The girl's mom should be the one getting the talk. I can remember 11 years ago racing a Quadracer against a new mustang. Pretty funny at the time. The Quadracer would outrun the car for about 500 feet before the car took over. Now the Pred would be faster than the Q-racer was. You should be able to take her. I dont condone that sort of thing, and Like Ken said, not a good idea. If you must do it be sure to wear full clothes and a good brain bucket.

 

im going to be as responsible about it as possible, i live on a concrete street, nearly NO traffic, an occasional car every 15 mins or so, and will be doing it at night so no traffic at all. The VW driver i know for a fact has had experience, so chances of something happening to me are pretty much nill, if it was someone else with less experience iw ould of said no hehe.

 

Supergumby... I would say go to a drag strip and run them one at a time, they probably won't let you race a car side by side. You can race the clock to see which has the fastest 1/8mile or 1/4mile time. That would certainly be safer, no oncoming traffic to contend with. JMO let us know the outcome!!

I'm sorry, but I can't tell who is dumber- You or your girlfriend's mom. Get your head out of your rear. I don't care if a car comes by once an hour. That car could have somebody's family in it and someone in the car could get hurt. I'm all for letting people be total retards when they don't impact other people. However participating in stuff like that could cause injury to other people, severe injury or death to yourself, not to mention it gives ATVers a worse reputation. God forbid you were to go through with this stupid stunt and be maimed for the rest of your life. Eating through a straw and plssing in a bag, your girlfriend will be long gone at that point. All for a few seconds of fun.

Some people would say that I am being very harsh, but it sounds like the voice of reason seems to a little distant right now.

In addition, my wife's brother (15 at the time) decided to play chicken with a jeep while on a motorcyle. All in fun of course. Apparently, they weren't supposed to get as close as they did (impact). Long story short, Jeep- no damage / Motorcyle- trashed / rider-he only turned out to be black and blue with four breaks in his leg. It took a while for him to get out of the hospital and it was a painful recovery. Better yet, the driver of the jeep was his cousin.

 

I'll do as I please- Thank You. Call me a hater if you will- and yes I did stupid things when I was that age. Luckily in a few cases people talked me out of some of the really dumb stuff. If you suggest or do really stupid things, you open yourself up to razzing. Giving advice is the responsible thing to do, discouraging stupid behavior is the responsible thing to do, offering your race analysis isn't.

I guess that's why they call it the Darwin Award.
