It all started off this morning when I too the little woman's truck down to get the transmission serviced. It's a 99 Z-71 chevy with 96,000 on it , no problems EVER! Well after we left the sevice station about 2 miles down the road it happened. The cooler line came off the Radiator and dumped trans fluid all down the right side and under the truck.

Well before we got it stoped it was about 1/8th of a mile it started slipping and smoke out from under the hood.

Well in the end the shop that did the work came down and fixed the cooler line and filled the trans back up. (6 quarts later) It only holds 14!

The manager said he would pay to get the possible damage evaluated. So I took it to the local GM dealership and there it sits. The service manager from chevy told me that if there is metal in the pan the trans is toast. It should be clean because they just did a service!

I just needed to vent because this crap made me miss the SuperCross in San Francisco. I had a Box suite with some friends!

Man, I know how you feel. Too bad that company has to pay for its mistake of hiring a 5.00 an hour man to do your work. Hope it all ends up good on your end. Heck, have them rent a car for you, it wasnt your fault.

I know what you mean I own a 99 ford 4 door Powerstroke I went to get the tranny flushed and told them to make sure and put regular MERCON ATF back in it not MERCON V and the Punk A$$ oil pumper starts arguing with me . He say it has to have mercon V he even went as far as to tell me it's on the dipstick . So I said SHOW ME! Well it turns out that the whole shop thought that the letter R with a circle around it ( ® ) meant V and they had been putting it in pickups . These trannys dont like Mercon V . Anyway then he told me that if he did put in the regular Mercon that he would not warranty his work .
NO problem. My trannys still going strong 30k later That Jiffy lube has replaced several trannys HUM wonder why?

Sorry to hear that Lowbowtie.

Is true, only way to trust the work is to do it yourself.

I'm enough of a control freak. . . hear more of this stuff and makes me even worse.

Yea those guys HATE to see me coming I bring my own filter ( HASTINGS ) I make sure they use Chevron Delo 400 and I make them cycle the oil They have to actually put the spout into the bulk barrel and run it for a couple minutes . It remixes the antifoaming agents and additive that can settle out in about 7 to 10 days . The new style injectors in diesels have to have the antifoaming agent or they run like crap .
WOW this is way off subject . Oh hey this is my toy hauler . Now were getting back in subject

I used to do all my own work. But where I live now (apartment) I cant do much. Man I know I have a hard time with anyone working on my stuff. I had been driving for 10 yrs before anyone but me changed my oil. I guess that just shows my age. lol
