SP 500 Rear wheels sliding
#3
Yes, as Chickman says, with the EBS system, it puts engine braking to the rear wheels. Because of the part time 4x4 system on the Sportsman, it only puts this to the rear wheels. That is why you only have rear wheels sliding.

Seems you have the same problem I did when I first got my Sportsman, and I go down some really steep stuff. Stuff I really shouldn't even be going down, try this little trick and it will help enormously before you start down something steep get right at the edge of the hill hold your over ride button and put it in reverse give it some good throttle backwards and as you hold the button stick it into low now you have 4 wheel hold back. Practice on small hills with this and after a while when you get more control of the Sportsman start practiceing going down hills in 2 wheel hold back pump your gas and brakes at the same time and this will get you down pretty good...any questions email me or leave it on the forum glad to help anyway I can...

I've heard the process ATVING explained, works sometimes and sometimes doesn't. Maybe its technique. That was one of the reasons I didn't get a Sportsman. You should see those things go down steep, snow covered hills/mountains!! Its a sight when behind one!
