any fuel/air experts around here?

I am thinking about having a aluminum air box built for my blaster that is similar to the banshee's. It is going to be the same design as the banshee including the twin air filters. I am going to have it designed with a top that is open to the air. My question is that will this be too much air flow into my carb that i wont be able to fix by re-jetting? It will have quite a great increase in air flow due to the 2 filters as well as a open top. I want to make sure that If i get it designed this way it wont flow too much air into my carb. I am only running a stock carb with pipes. Is there such a thing as having too much air that your jetting can't compensate for ??
any help would be greatly appreicated.
thanks

Your open airbox will still be restricted by the size of your carbs venturi (bore) and the flow charicteristics of your intake, head and exhaust system. You will be able to correct with a change in jetting.

In combination with the v-force and the pipes i think it should work out well. Will this give a noticable power increase or will i still be forced to jet low becuase of my stock carb?

You won't know til you try it. Dial in your jetting with your mods and your stock airbox first, so you have a baseline. Sometimes what you gain in volume of air, you lose in velocity. There's too many aerodynamic and harmonic considerations to make it easy to predict without trial and error. Airbox mods can be tricky, especially with two stroke engines. Probably worth a try, but you may end up with a nice collection of jets and needles by the time you get it pegged.

Im not to worried about jetting. I know it will take a long time and trial and error. I just want to make sure that by adding 2 filters rather then one it wont be too much air that is waster because i cant have that much gas flow in my stock carb.

Honestly, you're not going to improve that much by enlarging the airbox. This stuff all works together, and the carb is the biggest restriction on the intake side. A larger carb, or boring your stock carb would provide more improvement than enlarging the airbox.

I was thinking about doing that as well. My stock carb is only 26mm right now and i was thinking about going up to a 32, or maybe even a 36. But with all that extra flow of gas and air will my stock bore cylinder and pistons be able to handle it? or will it just be too much extra that isn't really helping at all?
