Limp home question
#1
I havn't bought an ATV yet but I have it narrowed down to the Cat650 or the Prairie700. I've been reading these forums for quite a while now, and I want to know if the prairie has been having the same problem with the belt switch ttripping as the cat650 has. Any comments are greatly appreciated because I'm really getting itchy to buy

My Prairie 650s never went into the limp-mode. Both of my Prairies did need a belt adjustment, as both belts were too loose. The Prairie 700 will need a belt adjustment too.
My Cat LE 650 did engage the limp-mode but my LE was one on the 1st made, even if I bought it in December. My Cat 650 went into the limp-mode b/c of a too loose belt. My Buddies MRP 650 now has 275 miles on it, has riddin on the same trails that I ride on & has had no-problem at all with his belt or the limp-mode. My understanding is that Cat has change the shims since the LEs were released.
Not everyone is having this limp-mode problem with the belt & the other problem of the reset-plug for the limp mode is also not a widespread problem either. I went ahead & bought the reset-plug just in case it does happen, with the reset plug you can be back up & running at your desire criusing range in minutes.
Comes down to what you really want, a sporty Prairie 700 or a rock climbing Cat 650.
The Prairies bests are-
better brakes
excellent power-sliding
awesome power
variable front dif-loc
The Cat bests are-
IRS
awesome power too
high ground clearance
big gas tank
smoother ride
adjustable shocks
front-dif loc
