Will 200S motor work in an 81 Big Red
#2
I believe the 200 and 185 motors are the same generation motors, but there is no such thing as an 81 Big Red. The first Big Red was introduced in 83, and it did have the 200 motor. There was a big frame 200 introduced a couple of years before the Big Red. 83 and 84 Big Reds were 200s, 85-87 were 250s.

I have heard that before that there was no Big Red in 81 but according to this site there was. http://www.titan-intl.com/honda.html . Plus when I run the vin it comes up as big red. Maybe it had another name who knows. Thanks for replying.

The BigRed 200 came out an '82 model. It was the first BigRed.
The engine from the '84 200S will bolt right in. The only difference being the electrical system. There will be some wires trhat you do not need with the 200S engine.
Other than that, you will not need to modify anything.

I stand corrected, the first Big Red was introduced in 1982.
