Default 92 bayou 300 motor change

Like others I picked up a fairly cheap bayou that actually started and worked ....but the motor sounded bad when idling and had very little oil in it when I checked it
otherwise the rear end seems good and the frame is not wrecked...plus the electrical all must be working

so I picked up a better and newer motor and am in the process of tearing out the old one hoping I can do it without paying a shop...my skills are novice but I aint a total idiot

My first hurdle is the exhaust pipe not pulling all the way out of the motor to remove it...it is close but not quite there...it apparently has been worked on and gotten longer through the years ...because I think it ought to come out without un bolting the motor mounts??....I am thinking about slicing off a bit so that it will...
that would be my easy solution.....it seems that there will plenty left to re-install....but like I said I am a bit novice

I just want to get all obstacles taken care of to help ease the motor removal...maybe some would suggest an alternative?
thanx --I will appreciate any advice

Another question

can I drop the motor out the bottom of the frame....or does it have to be done from the side?

A simple 5 buck manual can answer most of your questions. Most engines remove from the side.https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail....pair-1988-2002
