I was told that even if financing a bike that I should be able to get the title before it is paid off?...Is this correct......The main reason is that I am moving to florida and there are seveal riding areas that require a Title in order to register your atv......Also Can I transfer My registration from NJ To florida without the title?

as well as california you may register the bike in your name but the title or leanholder is alwaysin the bank/fianace companys name

Bill of sale should be fine. May take some paperwork pushing since you don't have registration now to transfer.

 

I'm sure the lawmakers in florida were smart enough to figure out that people might finance their vehicles. They should have a way of doing it. You do own the ATV, it's just that you are sharing ownership until it's payed off.

You will not receive title unti it is paid in full. You should however have a registration slip of some sort issued by the state. The title is the creditor's leverage. It is thier proof that they still hold interest in the bike. If a finance company sent me a title, I'd stop paying them! lol

 

I know a guy who the finance company accidentally sent him the title on his car - they kept calling & asking for it but he wouldn't give ti back. He kept making the payments as far as I know.

 

I talked to my finance company & they are sending me the Title....They said they are able to give it to me because they are listed on it as the Lienholder....So therefore I have a title in my name but also with them on it .....Didn't know it was that easy to get it...Just have to call your finance company.......Thanx For everyone's Replys and I hope this information helps you .......

I can now have the title and am able to register with the Florida State forests when I move......

 

It may be different from state to state since it's a state issued document.
