I posted a message a few days ago stating that I had ordered a set of Boyesen reeds for my 2000 Trailblazer. I ordered them from the parts department at my local Polaris dealer......... The Trailblazer does'nt even have reeds!!!..... You would think that they would know that, right?.... Makes you wonder how knowledgable they really are?

 

I attempted to order from a duluth, mn. polaris dealer a k@n air filter for my xpedition 425 cc 5-speed. He called back 3 days later and said no part exists for the xped. which means they dont have a k@n filter for the xped. Wrong. If he was a
good parts dealer, he should have know or been able to open a accessory's manual and see that the
xped. and sportsmen 500 both use the same air filter. then he could order the k@n for the sp500, and hand it to me. He/they, lost my business. I called DULUTH LAWN AND SPORTS. In about 1 minute and 30 seconds he came back to the phone and said I have one here, come and pick it up. Which I did.
that was the diff. between 1 parts man and another. The k@n air filter is just wonderfull in my xped. rangerchet

 

i went to my local dealer and asked for fluids for my transmission and differentials.. he told me the synthetic tranny fluid was for both the tranny and differentials.. i knew he was wrong so i went outside of the dealer and walked around to the service entry and asked the mechanic..sure enough he was wrong..you use regular gear oil for the differentials.. when i got my free winch,they ordered the wrong one,i fought the bracket for 2 hours after they said it was the right one,only to load the machine and bring it to them to show them it wasnt right,of course it was the wrong winch bracket..along with this and the fact that they give me 10% off on parts and there parts are still more expensive than another dealer that i now buy from is less money.. makes me stay away..i wont be buying another machine from them so..good luck

 

We have 3 dealers in my immediate area,ALL the parts counter people there lick,and there is only 1 of the 3 dealers who have a good mechanic,he allways seems to be busy to.I can relate to the fluid thing,it happened to me also.I dont trust the dealers,seek advice/manual whenever in doubt.====Bill

 

I trust my dealer. Hes been really nice. Was never wrong and he is also the mechanic

 

This just backs up what I have said many times not all POLARIS problems are POLARIS but the dealers and thier mechanics.If you have recurring trouble with same thing some ones not doing thier job and correcting whats causeing it.CM

 

When you Have a problematic dealer notify polaris they need to know about it so they can correct the problem.

 

I am feeling lucky that I have a good dealer, so far they have been perfect. When I went to install my new pipe I noticed that the coolant return line (to the resevoir) had been resting on the stock pipe burning the heck out of it. No big deal, my radiator never overflows coolant anyway, so I just installed the new pipe and went about my business. A couple of months later I took it in to get the lower steering bushing replaced for excessive up and down play. They fixed that and also told me that my new pipe must have melted the coolant line so they ran new line for me making sure to route it so it would be safe from heat. No questions asked, no problem. They didn't b!tch about my aftermarket mods just fixed the problem. I was only without my quad for a day.
A couple of weeks ago I was riding along and the rear swingarm let go on the right side. I took it in and got it back 3 days later...Again no questions asked. They also tell me that they noticed that my rear brake pads were shot so they took the liberty of replacing them at no cost to me. I have yet to sign any piece of paper to this day regarding any work performed on my quad, I just drop it off and pick it up when they say it's done. Also they tell me that they "fouled" up and forgot to send in my warranty papers when I first bought it so "darn it" that means that my warranty is extended an extra 2 months. I would drive 2 hours to do business with these people, but as luck would have it they are located less than 5 minutes from my house.
Hows that for service! Guess where I will be buying all of my future toys ;-)

I read your post and im very envious of you or anyone else who has a dealer and mechanic like that.Is'nt service suppose to be the way it is for you?I've got 3 dealers close to home.I'd drive 3 hrs away for the kind of service that you receive.===Bill
