Default '04 Z400 chain adjustment?

Do you adjust the '04 chain the same way that you adjust the '03? I have an '03 manual that tells you how to do it, but wondered if there was a difference in the year model (mine is an '04). Also, several months back, someone told of a site that tells you "how-to's" and cheap mods for the Z400. Anyone remember the site? I thought I had it saved but apparently it was erased from my computer.

Default '04 Z400 chain adjustment?

Hey,
I am looking for the same information. I have the 04 manual but it doesn't give you alot of information. It says basically to loosen the 4 bolts on the swing arm and then turn the one on the back of the swing arm until the chain movers between 1.2 and 1.6 inches. Between the sprockets is where you measure.I am not sure this is the exact spec because i dont have the book in front of me.Then it says to tighten the bolts to 75ft pounds. I guess my questions would be.....

Do you do this while the bike is on the ground or should you get a stand for it to sit on?

Should you take the skid plate of to do this?

And does anyone have any tips?

Or things to watch out for?

While i am in there is there anything else i should inspect?

Thanks,
Rafiki

I losen the 4 bolts on top then turn the other bolt checking tention. Then I sit on the atv to see if it need to be tightend more or loosend just a hair.I put a good snug on the bolts when tighting them, but dont bare down on them.
