how much is ZILLA worth?
#1
hey. With this discription how much would you say the zilla is worth:
1989 LT500R New Maier plastics with minor wear scratches, new seat cover, straitened frame welded for support, .020 over runs strong, full DG exaust, boysen reeds, new chain and sprockets, race cut stock plastics somewhat scratched included, has head and tail light, fast trekkers 80% on rear and ok stockers on front on ITP rims, factory manual included.
Just curious

have a look at the original pics in my profile, the quad was original condition plastics were brand new mayers and had DG exhaust, also came with a v-force cage as an extra, i payed $3777 for it on ebay,
it looked brand new when i got it out of the crate.
the misses blames you lot for the numerous mods and unnesasary rebuild

CTATV
$2500-3000
It is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. I've been trying (not very hard) to sell mine for a year. Mine has lots of mods with a bunch of extras and not one person is willing to pay $3000 for it. I'd really like to get rid of it but I've got way more into it than what I can get for it.
How much were you thinking? Am I in the ballpark of what your were expecting? If you look on ebay, most of the LT500s look like junk as if they have been sitting in the rain for the past 10 years. These machines are going for $2200. If you look in the Trader, guys are listing their nice 500s for $4000. I wonder if those quads are selling...

A molested 500 is only worth around $1,500 - $2,500
The prime-o machines (Either completely restored with OEM plastic, etc, etc. or New like/ unused/barely ever ridden from the original owner) will fetch upwards of $4k... but they have to look factory new
where theres been frame welding, maier plastic, and fingers inside the motor...pretty well molested IMHO.
Just my $.02 worth.

yea I did just get it. I'm a Senior in highschool and I do have limited space cause in the last year i bought an arctic cat snowmobile and this zilla so I will ride it all summer and then from there decide whether i like it enough to fog it and find a way to store it in my barn next to my sled or somthing of that nature or to just sell it and buy somthing else down the road, maybe a lt250 or a tecate 250. Just curious cause i dont want to put money into it I wont get back out of it. Right now it is at the shop I dont have the time to work on it so he is rebuilding the carb, fixing the frame and some other minor things that needed to be done. He charges 50 an hour but since i have been going there since way back he charges me 30 an hour which is cheap consitering he is really good and specializes in old two stroke bikes/atvs and grass drag snowmobiles. Just trying to keep in mind that I paid 1700, 500 shipping which puts me to 2,200. Then we will say no more than 400 for the work wich brings me to 2,600 and Id like to get most all of my money back. luckily the sled is worth 2 grand and i paid 700 for it plust 500 for work done to it so if i make money when i sell that next winter and loose some on the zilla my highschool escapades still will work out even. the engine runs totally strong and everything else is fine. basically its just the frame that is tweaked but im straitening and reinforcing that so it will be structurally strong and sound it just wont look perfect. When i put the cleaned up stock plastics and the new seat cover back on and it gets warm enough to give it a bath ill take some digi pics and post them on my pic page.

if anything is worth plowing a little extra $$$ into its a zilla, there a rare quad and certainly unique in the ATV world, Once you have had a good chance to get to know it you may think its gona be with you for a long time and want to get it sorted to your personal taste and spend a few $$$$ more,
ive got at least $$10000+ in mine and i know i wont ever see that money back but im not bothered cos i will always have room in my toybox for it no matter what else comes along,

yea I hear you on that. Thats the way I feel about my Wolverine honestly. In newengland I really cant see anything thats better for everything. Ive got the ground clearance and 4x4 that lets me hit mud holes and rock/hill climbing but with the 424 select and the megamax exaust on it it rips just like my friend's warrior. its not the fastest and it doest have a clutch but I have a dirtbike for that so as much as I love the raw power over all its less reliable and versitile as my wolverine so if we will have to see how i feel about it after a summer of riding. thanks for input
