Default Acceleration: Honda vs. Yamaha

I'm buying a new atv and leaning towards a Honda. I have a concern about the acceleration, is there much of a difference between say a Rubicon and a Kodiak 450 or would it even be noticable?

Thanks guys.

There is not much of a difference, but the nod would have to go to the Kodiak if you just want pure acceleration. However, neither of these machines are very good at accelerating so if that's the sole reason you'd be purchasing, you may look into other machines. The Suzuki Vinson is a 500 and a lot sportier than either of these. If there are other reasons you chose these 2 quads, let me know and see if I can help because I've put quite a lot of seat time on both.

Thanks RedGoblin, I'm looking for a work ATV that I can get a little crazy on on the weekends. I narrowed it down to the Kodiak, Rincon or the Foreman ES. I'm leaning towards the Honda because of the reliability and Im thinking about the Foreman ES so that I can have the 2 or 4 wheel drive option. Any input you have as to pros/cons of these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If your looking to get a little crazy then go for the rubi...not jsut because im a honda guy but you can use teh shift mode and ride it like it was a manual. Plus it ahs alot stronger torque spread than the kodiak does.

The Foreman ES sounds like your solution my friend. If you want to invest about $200 (eBay) on a Warn 424 kit for the Rubicon, you'll have just that much more power and the added features of the Rubicon over the Foreman. I think it's down to personal preference between these 2 quads. See if you can ride both at the dealer or a friend's. The reliability is unmatched on both of these machines so don't worry about that.
