Ok, this has been started before but I am going to put my 2 cents in, and stop me if I'm wrong.
Listen up Polaris.
Letter to Polaris.
Ok guys go get a 425 Expedition and a 500 Scrambler. Ok now completely disassemble them.
Power plant, Take the 500 motor and mate it to the 5 speed from the expedition, but drop the auto and make a manual, and while your are in there put in an internal reverse gear. Now pay attenion here, lets make a removable PTO on the Primary shaft opposite the sprocket. By doing this we make provisions to drive a front drive shaft on a 4x4 model. Ok good
Now somebody sneak over to Watercraft R&D and snag a EFI setup from the genesis PWC.
Now make that work with the 500 motor we just built. OK? Good Motor is done just set it aside while we work on the frame.
Lets start by getting some Chromemoly the mild square tube has to go. Ok clean slate here Try to stay with me here guys but lets think "light and strong". Everyone relax you can put these two together! Start by taking your clues from the aftermarket, Lets not try to reinvent the wheel. Good frame geometry is out there for the taking. Use dual A arms, and make the front main frame members just far enough apart to accept a front diff for a 4x4 model. Now use high quality adjustible shocks all the way around. No floor boards, instead lets be the first company to offer factory nerfs. OK? Good
Frame is done, set it aside also.
Now for the brakes, (use good ones) twin piston calipers, micro line and big master cylinders, and lets have seperate front and rear controls.
Heres some basic construction hints, NO Plastic wear parts! No Rivets! Some use of high quality alloy parts is good but use your heads about it!
Now take these major parts and put together the best all around sport fun quad Polaris has ever made.
Lets see what we have :2x4 model
Sub 400 lb bike
EFI 500 cc thumper
5 speed Manual
Super binders
Reverse
Ele start
No sub standard parts
( read reliable )
4x4 model
Sub 500 lb bike
Same great features as 2x4
What do you think?
Am I off? or would you buy one even it it cost
Say around 6799.99?
Just my 2 cents
