who would win in a drag, trail, hills?

 

very fast, very nice machines.
it depends on gearing, tires, and rider, and any of these can change the outcome of any location.
I've beat one, I've lost against one, only two I've raced.
It takes more than HP to be the fastest accelerator, and the 450 has it for sure.

first 100 feet probably the yamaha for sure but if the ds can get some traction it will take over quicker.

 

My friend has a YZF450 and we have draged alot. Ok here is my results so far.
Stock for stock (not sure of distance though) he won a little over half the time, they were very close races with winner being the one who didn't goof the hole shot.
Bolt on mods on both quads(I had a slip on R4 didn't work all that well on a DS, and he had the Jamaha full pipe ) he won most the time rather easy.
450 same with bolt ons, DS with stage 2 and RWR exhaust now, DS won by about 7 quad length (rather unfair because of the engine work on the DS though)
But the YZF450 is a very fast and lite quad I have been very impressed with it.

I know it's not a fair comparison but I can give any 450 a substantial head start and make it look like a 300EX when I blow by it on my 720. Looking forward to the results after going to the 770![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

WHY are the older ds650 slower than your new one? What kind of statement is that?

 

I keep hearing those statements too... Why would a new DS be any faster than an older one? That Baja X has to have 20+ pounds of junk bolted to it over the standard DS. The standard red DS may have a 20lb advantage over the wider DS but I doubt thaat the X has any at all with the extra gear hanging on it.

 

are you saying the 2004 ds's are faster then then 99-2003 ds's? I thought they had the same exact engine in them.
