ok my question is how to make a 86 faster without goin crazy on my wallet i go tthe following done what else can i do to get even a little horespower or even better low and mid range
i got fmf expansion chamber,fmf pipe,kn filter,bored like .60 over weisco piston running klotz benoil 32:1 um i got twist throtttle for better response i havent checked carb to see if it is jetted right i am assuming they jetted when they did kn filter with pipes i havent messed with that part of it i just got it bored since i have had it and i went from 12 tooth front to 11 tooth i havent tested that as well either i also got boysen reeds on it.any suggestions u guys can give please feel free i am trying to mak ethis thing fast in 1 threw 3 gears i dont wanna have a ton of top end i want to be able to drag like 1/8 mile with it and climb hills easy i know port and polishing gives it a ton of more power but i dont got the cash for that right now and i also herd of u beaing able to put a 6 spd tranny in these things ??? let me know thanks guys

Go to Duncan racing .com or eric gorr.com and print their tuning pages. Learn what jetting is and how to set it up properly. The first thing to do whether it's your quad or your car is to optimize what is already there, learn how to make it run right. Then go to the other mods. You might find a lot of power there that you didn't suspect existed.

Reeds!! Either change the stock reeds with any aftermarket ones, or get a whole new cage......but for the price and performance gains, a set of replacement reeds should be on top of your grocery list! Also, if its not done yet, poke some holes in your air box and re-jet. Those'll give you more power for cheap!

well i jumped into it today and i am glad i did it had a 270 for a main jet and a 55 for pilot i was told by fmf for all the things i got done to run a 220 and a 45 so i pu tit all back on along with my new twist throttle also my k n filter was filthy so all of this may make a big differanc ei hope

Check out the mods on my quad, these really helped speed it up. The porting I got done was from a guy on Ebay, and it cost me $80. It may not be as good as a $300 port job, but definately worth the money and I could feel the difference. I noticed a lot better throttle response when I switched from a 34mm Mikuni carb to a 35mm Keihin PWK carb.
Also, NO you can not put a 6 speed trans in the 85/86. This is not a car with a separate motor and trans. You would have to put ni a whole different motor.

Whoooooooa an 11- tooth are you out of your mind Youll be in 6th gear topped out at 45 mph. If you have mods dont go down 2 teeth from stock. Youll give lt250r owners a bad rap. Remember the lt250 that got beat by a 300 ex, those LT's sure do suck ... i can hear it already!

ok man it is only down 1 tooth from stock stock is 12 and i race on all mx tracks so i wont ever see 45mph anyway but i do go to the dunes sometime but its all hill climbing but i will ride it tommorow and see how much of a differance those jets make i hope alot other wis ei will put the 11 tooth on it
