My friend says Arctic Cat is junk

The two guys I ride with both have Hondas. One is a new 350 Rancher 4x4, the other is an older FourTrax 300 4x4. The guy with the FourTrax is the worst. He's always talking trash about Arctic Cat, and about how Honda is the greatest bike on earth and stuff. I just got my Cat last week, the three of us are planning to go riding this weekend. I really don't want to hear him run his mouth all weekend. Have you guys had good luck with Arctic Cats?
I got so much more than the Honda for the same money: disc brakes, selectable four-wheel-drive, larger fuel tank, independent suspension, speedometer, winch, 2-year warranty, more ground clearance, rocker shifter, three-range transmission, etc. From what I can see, Honda is over-rated and over-priced. But the real test is going to be when we get out into the woods. Do you guys think I'm going to have any trouble here? I think I can go anywhere they go, but if I can't I'll never hear the end of it. What do you think?

You'll be able to go every where they go and more, the arctic cat has more ground clearance and will spak those honda's. Arctic Cat may not be the best of them all but it's better then those crappy honda's. Don'tworry about not being able to go where they go. Well have fun on the trails whooping their butts. You have a good bike. The 300 is a very good utility bike. For normal riding on trails and in the mud use low range. You will have lots of torque. The bike is much more stable than the Honda. He may be better in off-camber situations (if you have 1 front wheel off the ground.) His differential senses this and will transfer power to the wheel on the ground. On an AC, the wheel with the least traction gets the power. I did a shifter mod. on mine to get true 4 wheel drive, but they changed the diff. in 2002. I don't know if you can do this.
I also had touble with the carb. getting it set up. If you have the same trouble, changing the jets and/or experimenting with the e-clip position will help

I feel everyone has the right to an opinion. But when they knock something they have never tried or go on things they hear, thats not an opinion! I know a lot of people that believe honda is the only way to go....heck I ride with a few! They have been more and more impressed by my Arctic Cats....so much so that I have proven to 2 of them that these are as good a machine or even better than than what they have now! They both are soon to be riding A/C's! Don't let them dog you for making your own opinonated decision! If everyone had the same thing this would be a boring world! If you felt that this bike will suit your needs......ENJOY IT!!!!!! Thats why you ride....for enjoyment!

I hate that! We have a guy at work that bleeds Yamaha. According to him A/C are a pile of junk ( he has never owned or even rode one). If it doesn"t say Yamaha on it it is not worth even a passing glance. Don"t let them get you down, when you pull them out or tow them home they will come around. 300 is a great machine, if you want to see what it will pull put in low or super low range and hook a chain between your backend and your buddies and pull him backwards( notice I didn"t mention how big your buddies machine could be). A/C does a great job of getting horsepower to the ground where some other units brag on HP but loose it between engine and the tires.

I'd find someone else to ride with. Life is too short to put up with motormouths. Give me a good, rough trail, and I'll pit my 500i against any live axle quad built.
Come down and ride with me - I'm about 20 miles outside of Lexington... got three miles of good, limestone rock strewn, 'Cat only' trails across my farm... been thinking about going over to Hatfield-McCoy some weekend...

you 300 is far superior to the fourtrax in my opinion, dont get me wrong those old beasts were great bikes, but they lack many features that the cat 300 has, I cant say anything bout the rancher because i have never seen one up close, but im sure the ac 300 is just as good

Your AC should go anywhere they can, but it's also driver dependant. Are you the better driver?
