Default TrailBoss Running rich

I jus looked at my spark plug that i put in about 2 months ago and it was tottally black. I sanded it and stuck it back in and it would only run with full choke on, i took it out and it was black again. How do i get it to stop running rich? and can i do this myself or do i need a dealer to do it? thnx

You need to do plug checks its usually best with a couple new plugs. First you need to adjust the pilot by doing that you get the bike to operating temps and hold the throttle from around 1/8 to 3/8 and kill the bike and pull the plug out. If its black than its running rich so lean it up some if its a tannish color then your on the money and if its white then your lean. Next you need to check the jet needle you do this by getting the bike to operating temps again and hold the throttle between 3/8 and 3/4 throttle again with the plug colors black is rich so you would put the needle up one notch and if its lean put it down one notch. Next you check the main jet which is 3/4 to WOT so do the same and get the bike running at operating temps and hold the throttle at a little over 3/4 throttle and check the plug and go buy some main jets as needed if you have any more questions i will go over everything on how to do it just email me at Foxracr2346@aol.com or IM me at icptwztdkkabk.
