What size tires for grizzly?
#1
A friend wants to know what would be the best size tire for a grizz with stock suspension? He was told that 27 would be to big and hit the fenders. Anyone with some experience or input? 26 I think are stock.

I thought 25" tires were stock. I would say 26" tires if you plan on putting the tires on the stock rims, 27" if you are going to keep the stock rims and tires in tact. That way you can swap when conditions demand a different tire.

Yeah, that was a good post there. I have 27's, and Claws are about as tall of a 27" tire as you can get (most 27's are almost always closer to 26 with normal air pressure in them). I will rub the small black lower fenders on back at times when I'm riding fast over bumps, but not too bad. I cut a very slight bit off of them with a coping saw, but I still rub just a bit. But not enough to matter, and belive me, I'm **** about my quad, and I would have it doing that if I though it was hurting anything.
Mine are on ITP Delta rims and like all aftermarket wheels, they have more offset. I don't know how that wide rear tire would do on the stock rims. Might rub something up inside there, and maybe the muffler on the right side. Don't know. But if you go the aftermarket wheel route, then 27's fit no problem.

barely rubbed when he sat on it, or barely rubbed with full suspension compression? Its important to look at the clearances at full compression because if you have an unexpected drop or a heavy load the tire can damage the bike if the clearance isnt there. Lift kits are cheap if you want big tires, but they do put more of a strain on the cv components.

I just ordered a set of mudlites 26x9x12 in the front 26x10x12 in the rear for my 04 grizz, with stock wheeks. They are 1' bigger all a round. I picked them up from motorsports4sale@netnet.net from a guy named Brian They were about $ 280usd shipped. I will let you know how they look and work, they should be here next week.
