Hey!! I just got $4,000 to buy a quad.. I have always wanted a 250r and my neighbor will help me build the motor if I get one (he drag races). Could I get a pretty decent 250r?? Also I am thinking if it is a good idea to put 4k down on a new trx450r?? I wonder what my payments would cost.. Not sure if I can do it. I am 5'7", 300lbs.. what would be the best quad for me? I want something with good bottom end (I can port and polish it and upgrade) also something i can trail ride and ride in the sand, I go to florence, sandlake, winchester, etc.. Thanks a lot!!

 

well my personal preferance at 170 riding trails and fields around newengland would be the 250r cause I love two strokes. To quote a great sticker i once read" 4 strokes are like tampons, every p*ssy has one" thats just my personal opinion. the 450r looks like a great bike but there still is no snap like a two stroke powerband. just my two pennies one dime 4 nickels and a sacajeweya gold dollar coin.

 

Aight I talked to my mom, she said she doesn't want to pay payments and I have to get a used quad for 4k cash. I'm wondering if I can find a good condition (mildly stock) 250r for about 2,500-3,000?? I want to be able to upgrade some things on it still like maybe a big bore kit or other things. Thanks.

 

Smokd definitley get a 250r, you wont be disappointed. Esr makes several kits that will help you achieve satisfaction with power. Watch the cycle trader and youll find a few r's for 3-4000. I just bought mine in salem or for 3000 and it is all stock(86). Good luck. Try callin dtr racing they usually have some leads on good r's for sale

 

You can get a pretty decent 250r for 3,000 and a NICE one for 4,000

 

my dad is currently comming home with the new Cycle trader for me now.. Hopefully I can find one for $2,500 with maybe a melted piston or something?? Then I can buy a big bore for it. Guys, should I look for an 86-86 or an 88-89?? Whats better and why?? Thanks.

 

jeez.. I've been looking around in my cycle trader and found some NICE 88' 250r's for 4k, I'm just wondering.. I know they have a long rod and spacer plate.. If i end up buying a big bore I don't want a long rod.. What should I do? just buy a 86' rod?

 

Smokd call matt at dtr 503-589-1300 he can tell you everything you need to know about the 250r. He has helped me tremendously and saved me some $ by not selling me parts I dont need.

 

Hmmm being 5' 7", sounds like someone might look at purchasing some adipex and a bicycle to ride 25 miles a day......

 

Sorry man, but 5'7" 300 you are gonna kill that 250r. You need big power to haul you around. The bike is gonna look like it is riding you. Get a V Force or a DS.
