Default Just saw some nice Jugs!!!

I looked at Mr HP website and noticed he offers a QUALITY jug that looks very solid, A ton of space for head to seal.. With Nik/seal to boot.

I feel bad that people are still haveing head gasket leak issues... It has came to my attention ( VIA PMs ) that Some buiders ( Not Mr Hp ) are still sending out jugs with sleeves that have not been intalled into jug properly. Sleeves are shifting and causing major probs... I hope that people get what they pay for and can enjoy their big bores... I have said this before, I AM NOT A Mech, but if you are haveing head gasket leaks, make sure to check and see if the sleeve has moved on ya.. Good luck. From the looks of Mr Hp cylinder, That sleeve aint goin no where!! JMO

I just wish I new this last year when I put my motor back together 2-3 times before realizing the sleeve shifted, some mechs will say it settled, BUT I call BS!! How many times can a sleeve settle!! UN_REAL!. The sleeve should never shift IMO.

Thats because there is no sleeve! Its built from scratch, not a modified stock cylinder.

Thats my point, From the looks of his "cylinder", Theres no where for sleeve to move, if it is one piece. I guess i should have worded it different for you.

sleeve shifting is a load of horsesh_t, there is no excuse for that. any sleeve that has moved on a guy moved because the machinist should not be doing what he does.
up until a couple years ago, every bike motor out there had a sleeve. alumi cylinders with nikasil coatings are only used to dissipate heat faster, and reduce a little weight, but steel sleeves have been used forever with no problems at all. it sickens me that some have failed in the aftermarket.

Hopefully and eventually, MR.HP may also offer a big bore with a steel sleeve, but bored and installed correctly so that it has no issues like Sam had. that way you have a choice between dropping 2 grand for the better of the two, or dropping under a grand for pretty much the same power with a little higher operating temp.

Has anybody had any problems with the TVI's? I haven't heard of any, but I have heard a couple with samcoe.

Barlett, I dont know about the overbore, I have not talked to Mr Hp about the cylinder yet. I am sure he has tested it, But I dont know what the outcome was exactly. And I only saw the price $1,999. But what caught my attention was the amount of material , Especially around the cam chain side... Mine was very thin and had to be re-enforced, Welded and then decked again just to hold-up. Mr. Hp cylinder Just looked better than what I have seen. I wish I had pics of mine after I saw my first cylinder sleeve install then you would know what I mean.

Annihilater, TVI has a picture of there big bore jug with a sleeve installed on their web site. when I compare the mr.hp jug to the tvi jug you can definitely see the week points in TVI.

I notice the price change also, when I question it the response I got was that the original price of $1400 was their goal as long as they could produce a minimum of 20 kits at a time. I guess there was not that great of an interest in the kit, so the lower production numbers forced the increase in price.

Someone pointed out that this is still cheaper then a team pami 720 kit, but at the same time it is now about $700 more then TVI kit.

Sandaholic, The first bigbore I did had no where near the material that even TVI has (It was from Samcoe performance, It was bored out of round also), But luckily someone finally got the sleeve in there "right" for good... But when running these high compression bikes at high rpm most the time I think it needs all the room it can get to hold together. It looks like if Mr Hp didnt have the nikisil you might have enough room for a 107mm bore superlight piston with no prob. I hope that could maybe be an option one day. I think that would be a rever.
I thought TVI had some Pami jugs, I just looked at their website and they have some room near the cam chain side, But it is just different from mr hp cylinder like you said. Is the jug on TVI website a Pami?

I can understand the price being a bit higher due to the demand right now, The mold for that may have been knarly $$. But when I raid my piggy bank I may go to a 107-108 mm. It all depends on how it will work with the head. But I am happy with what I got now, God willing it will keep holding together good and make good power. I have just been through enough trouble with these motors that I would like to save some people the hassle of finding out their sleeve moved before they re-assemble a few more times ( that is IF there is a new generation of sleeves out there).. It Could be an easy fix if they know what to look for. Ive never heard of pami sleeve probs, I dont even know if the sleeve is seperate.
