Default Painting Exhaust?

I bought some Chevy-orange Engine block paint in a rattle can at auto zone to paint the letters on my block. (forgot who told me about doing it, but credit to them!)

im wondering... can i paint my exhaust? I would like to probably sand down my cansiter with some lite grit paper (do they make a Engine block Primer?) and then do a few coats of this engine block paint which i beleive says that it can withstand 500*

Will this be ok? How about the mid pipe/headers?

Thanks guys

500 degree paint will burn off faster than you can put it on so if you paint your exhaust make sure you got 1500 degree paint.

How hot are the exhaust pipes at the headers? how much cooler is it by the time it hits the Canister?

Do they sell paint FOR exhaust manifolds?

Just buy 1500 degree paint for the whole exhaust system.... yes it's for exhaust headers and stuff, you can get it at wall mart.

After you paint your exshaust, you will have to BAKE each part inthe over at 400 degrees for 4 hours. This will stink up the house, but if you dont do it, you will be wasting your time. The first time you ridde your quad, the paint will get goowy and dirt/sand, you name it will stick to the paint.

Bigger.

hmmm... dont know if my oven will fit my midpipe/canister.....

i assume baking it just makes it hard?

new question...does anyone know someone who powder coats? (will powdercoat stand up to exhaust temps?)

i wont do it if its really expensive...but maybe its another option

I painted my pipe on my raptor.
After letting the pipes heat up the paint just got all bubbly as someone mentioned. It lost its shine but it didnt get ruined. I also painted the headers but most of that paint almost burnt right off lol...maybe i didnt put enought coats? Oh well it doesnt look that bad!
