lol i knew it was one of the "locals" in here, just forgot which one! (hehe)
Coyote, that looks really good. Where did you come across the 1400 * paint? and in the orange? (also, was it in a rattle can?)
also, did you rough up the surface before painting or use a primer? (i just assume if im gonna do it, do it ONCE the RIGHT way, so it dosnt look like junk )
Thanks guys

alright, when i was there they had two different paints... i only paid attention to the one that i thought most-closely resembled the Baja's orange. (which was the 500 degree or whatever engine-block paint)
so im assuming the other i was looking at is the 1400*
Does it say Exhaust paint or anything like that on the can?
I plan on doing this to my White brothers pipe...and im just worried it will turn out crappy.... its aluminum so hopefully if i rough it up enough, and put it on thick enough it will be ok.
Did you Bake your exhaust after you painted it? or just dry/install? dont suppose they make a 1400 degree clear coat... lol
Sorry for the questions, but id rather measure twice/cut once than screw it up and...well...have a half-orange pipe

Roost, I didn't bake mine, just shot it & let dry for several days. The paint I used was Duplicolor(got picture of painted headers on the can).
Man I don't know about painting that White Bros. muffler. If it was me I'd polish it ! I painted the stock can because the black was too hard to keep clean from all the mud.

Coyoteman,
looks good I had thought of that but wasnt sure how it would look, I had sand blasted mine to bare metal, polished it and tried to find some 1500 deg. clear paint and couldnt find it so I put some duplicolor w/ anodised(SP) look and down by the mid pipe it burnt off but now I know the orange looks good Im gona do that. Later after doing some searching I did find some clear. It was on a wood stove web site but it was expensive.

Roost if you are painting a aluminum exhaust pipe your going to need some primer to make the paint stick & not sure how well it will work @ that heat range. When it comes to painting aluminum then powder coating is the way to go. Just my 2cents

Roost, I know the whole idea behind painting the exhaust is that its a cheap improvement, but if you want your exhaust to look kick *** send the whole system off and get it ceramic coated. You won't be disappointed. You could probably get the whole system (including the muffler) done for under $140. I did my head pipe ($70) and I've seen the whole system done on a 400 EX w/White Bros slip on and it looked killer. There are also many advantages to ceramic coating. Check out Process Coatingswebsite or Jet Hot for details and pics. Good Luck.

ya i like the idea of powdercoating, just because it would be a very durable finish, but im wondering where i could get it done...
anyone know of someone who powdercoats? id like to just get the midpipe/canister done.... the more i think about it, the less i want to paint the WB...just cuz if it dosnt turn out, it would look horrible...
i actually already have a semi-polish on it (was fully polished, but its starting to dull)
