i checked my oil and it didnt register then i fired it up and it regestered a lil so i emptied that out and filled it with 1.9 us quarts like the manual says then checked it and it was registering normal then i went to the dunes and after 1 and a half day of riding i checked the oil again and it only registered a lil bit again do i have a leak, or do they burn that mutch oil also it doesnt ever smoke like it would be out of oil or anything so what do you think is happening thanks for any input.

 

What kind of bike???

If it is a dry sump like the 400EX, the oil will end up in the crankcase instead of the sump when the bike sits a while. This will give you a bogus reading. See your owners manual for the proper procedure!

Had a buddy check the bike cold (400EX). Thought it was low, so he added some. That made it way over, and the hoses blew off because the pressure was so high from all the oil that had no place to go.

 

yes it is the 400ex so do i have to have it run awhile
