hey everyone, new to the forum area. I just purchased a Honda Recon 250 utility quad and was told about this site from my brother. He said it would be very helpful if I had any questions. He goes by the name "sugardaddy". Anyways, my first question is how long do I go before my first oil change. I have been told many different things already,,,, and do you change the screen everytime or just clean it??? They told me it did not have a filter, so this is something new to me...Any help, I would appreciate..Thanks

To answer how frequent of oil changes. Some people do 10-20 hours. Better to be safe than sorry. As for a oil filter the 250ex I don't think has one. (Same engine as the recon.) I would suggest buying a manual. It is really really really useful. Trust me on that.

If you have a owners manual then it should say when to service the Recon. If it is new then the first service would be around the 20 hr mark. If it's used then you could change the oil every 100 hours and check the air filter. The Recon does not have an oil filter to change with each oil change.

Welcome Muzzy, check your manual,,,and pretty much what everyone else says.

Try a search on 'Recon' or '250ex' (same driveline)

again, welcome,,,,,throw some pics of the recon on your gallery page.

muzzybowhunter, welcome to the forums.

Terre Haute? Is that where Larry Bird is from? Seems like I have heard of this town. AlaskaBoy.

Hey alaska, you are correct in your thinking. TH is where Larry Bird played college b-ball(Indiana State)...He is actually from a town called French Lick, IN however, not Terre Haute,,,muzzy is my brother so I thought I'd reply to your comment...

Actually, I was fortunate enough to already have the FMF pipe on there when I bought it, but if I remember correctly, the guy at the dealership told me that the carb had been jetted by the previous owner and that anytime you change the pipe, you need to re-jet the carb. Again, I'm going from memory on that but I'm pretty sure that's what they told me..I will investigate and let you know unless someone else can help you first...I can say that I have absolutely no problems with mine...Whatever was done to it(jetted or not)was done right........It will fly........, and start everytime........
