Need Help: Keihin PJ34s w/Alky wont idle
#1
We got a brand new pair of Keihin PJ34s on our banshee, Trying to convert to run on Alky. We drilled the main dump tube to .120, w/ a .116 main jet and put a #65 Keihin pilot jet with EGQ needles and 060 slides. Runs greats, but cannot get to idle at all. We have tried various pilot jets from very large to very small with no effect... still wont idle.
I dont suspect there is anything wrong with the main dump tube/jet configuration..
Probably something with the pilot jet or perhaps we need to drill the pilot tube,
but before we go drilling anymore I thought I'd better ask the experts.
I'm out of ideas and not sure what to try next, so any help greatly appreciated.

I'm running 35.5mm mikuni's.I'd say your problem is with your dump tube and main jet size. When your running alcohol bigger bore motor's will actually run a smaller main jet.I don't know your engine size but just something to consider.I was told to run the same dump tube with the same main jet.I'm running 114's!Try matching your dump tube with your main jet.Good luck!

I went up and down with main jet with no change, and tried some 8.0 slides with no change. Still wont idle.
I went back over wideload's post about running alky and I still thinking that my pilot tube needs to be drilled
.008 more, but I want a 2nd opinion before I drill anymore on these carbs. The reason I think its pilot related...
and correct me if I'm wrong here, but at idle, all fuel is coming from the pilot jet circuit and the needle is all the
way down in the main jet.
If anyone else has ideas, please post em.
