I will be getting a new 400 i auto 4x4 with a county plow.Dealer recommends a 50 "but from reading this forum I think I should go with a 60".Any feedback before Monday morning would be greatly appreciated,especially owners of a similar set-up. thanks! The plow is adjustable both left and right and will have a 2.5 winch.Supposedly a county plow will throw the snow out further than a straight plow?

Now if you tilt a standard 50 inch plow will it still be wider than the machine, an 50 inch plow only gives you 2 inches of play with stock tires

AND IS IF NOT USEING A WINCH YOU BARELY GET ANY GROUND CLEARANCE WHEN THE BLADE IS IN THE UP POSITION DO TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION GIVING.

 

Get the 60" plow. Look at my setup, looks like you are going to be getting the same thing. I do a lot of plowing, and never once have I thought the 60" was too big. The 400 can easily take it. I don't know much about this country plow, I got the one from Cat and it works great. Get a winch though. I can lift mine high, no problems with the ground clearance. Oh, my dad has been using his 2000 500 Cat with a 60" plow since the fall of 99, and he never has had anything break. I have never heard of that.

What kind of setup do you have BOWDEN? When the blade is in the up position on my ATV my suspension doesn't sag at all. I love the adjustable suspension.

 

I was worried about the 60" blade when i was looking so i went with a 52" Quadboss blade and cycle country pushtubes and mount. works great and wider than the tires.

 

With the wider tires that I have on my bike. My only real option was the 60" plow. I have used it all winter and I think it is great. The AC400 didn't have any problems with it. I agree with the others. I have a winch and it works great to lift the blade almost a foot off the ground. My plow is made by Arctic Cat. My only complaint is that the shoes wear out kinda fast when plowing on pavement.

 

I've ran a 60" for 3 winters now on my 375 and recently went to the arctic cat 60"tapered plow blade. I put on about 300 miles a winter plowing my 1/4 mile drive and at times a 1/2 mile county road. the 375 always had more than enough grunt to get the job done. Icould't imagine going with anthing smaller. Also the arctic cat county plow is a 5 angle directional blade, I don't know about others but the AC does go both ways.

Sounds like you may get one from your dealer but you might want to take a look at the buyers plows northern equipment sells. I got a 48" thinking I could get it loaded in the truck without demounting, wrong! It won't raise high enough with the shorter trifold ramp in my 4wd. I did get some mounting pins that make it less of a chore, they are a t-handle looking thing with a pushbutton release for a detent ball.
I also got my superwinch from northern, about $120. The buyers plow is pretty heavy duty, though not recommended mine has moved way more brush and logs than snow and is holding up just fine. My winter project was clearing away all the overhanging limbs on the perimeter of 75 acres of bottom ground. I also made a set of trip dump rock tines for clearing rocks out of the fields that attach to the buyers mount. I just use it on the ones too heavy to pick up by hand but not too big to tax the suspension. Best regards and congrats on your new ride! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
