how unreliable will shaving the head make a bike?

if you do it right, you'll be allright, granted it may heat up a bit quicker, but oh well. and all these people who talk about unreliability are only half right on that subject. If you build it right, it'll be alright. Just like everyone says turbos are not reliable and unefficient. yeah, if you have a stock motor. but you know what i'm sayin?

yea, i just dont want to have to be buildin up the top end all the time because its poping pistons all the time.
im only going to be using pump gas, which is 92 here.

I bought it from my neighboor, he had rebuilt it twice before i got it. when i got it the top oend was semi-decent. I ran it for about 4 months afterwards then rebuilt it. When I sent it to the shop they said the bore was .40 from stock and they were going to make it a .60. I got them to shave the head.40 while they were at it and I've run it with the new top end a head work for about 3 months now and the comperession is holding good and the motor runs great. And if you get it done you'll be surprised, it's worth it. I noticed a hearty power upage

that's not going to affect how reliable the engine is.

ive seen a few bikes around here with the head shaved and they blew every ride they went on.
Ive even see people who just take the head gasket out and bolt it bcak on. Its the same effect as shaving the head just more stupid=)

i read on the hollywood dirt fourm that the higher compression from the shaved head will make me have to run higher octance fuel because I have the timing advanced. Is that true at all?
