is the end cap mod really good??

i was just wondering about back pressure. definetly the end cap lowers the back pressure. is this really good? are we losing some power in some place to gain power in another?

The wide open "billet End Cap" is all cosmetics and noise, no engineering. Anybody can make more horsepower with a louder exhaust, especially when the stock exhaust, or end cap, is as restrictive as the DS. The stock exhaust is a very good design, with a large volume megaphone, till it gets to the end cap.
The possibilities are many. But just gutting it out, or replacing it with a billet piece that has no internals is not the answer unless you want to "bother the neighbors, get hassled all the time, and set the forest on fire".
Completing the reverse cone megaphone, incorporating a spark arrestor and keeping the noise down while boosting performance accross the board is all possible. My version is working extremely well, but lacks in the cosmetics. Check it out in the photo section of my profile. Build yourself one. If you can make it out of stainless pipe and stainless weld it, it can be polished and look pretty sweet. I just welded mine with regular mild steel, and had to paint it black to keep from gagging...hence the name "Butt Ugly"
This end cap has been Dyno tested, and produces gains accross the board. A wide open design beat it by a couple of horsepower at the expense of noise and no spark arrestor.
