Default Piston ?

I’m a desert racer and I am trying to decide on a piston i.e. 11/1 12/1 14/1
Ron woods or Mr. Horsepower I want the bike to move like the wind but I don’t wont to rebuild my bike after every 100-200 mile race any input would be great.

Also what problems have you had with the different pistons if any?

I would think that a stroke add on the engine would give you great results for desert racing.

Wish I could tell you more than that. I've never just changed compression and done a dyno.

BigDog AZ for desert racing I wold keep it simple no higher than 11 to 1 on the piston. Just get a different carb than the stock one.

Besides the piston I’m putting cams and fuel injection.

Lightweight pistons = easier on rotating assembly = closer to stock crank balance = longer life. Good ring packages = faster break in = more horsepower. The compression you need depends on which cams you use.

Keep in mind though that a to light of piston will make the bike vibrate like crazy. I am running a CP 12:5:1 comp. and i havent had any problem and the bike runs great. I could tell alot of difference when iput the piston in. Lance

When we pulled the stock piston, the CP and the stocker where very close in weight.

The cp piston kit is about 20% heavier than stock

BullSh*t, The piston was pretty close to the same weight, even the guy who has been putting pistons in for over 30 years saids that they are pretty darn close in weight. I felt it when the guy took it out. Dont mean to be rude but i felt it myself and i know what it feels like. Lance
