After reading the unbais review that this site did of the Raptore. I was surprised to see that after all the hype and talk about the Raptor being king, that the Banshee can still run with the Big Raptor seeing as the Banshee engine is half the size. While the Raptor may be the king of the 4 strokes it will NEVER totally dominate the 2 strokes. I am a loyal 250R owner but I have to stick up for the Banshee I am sure that the Raptor will be a very good machine but this just proves that 2 strokes are not dead. Just think what a heavy modified 250R or Banshee would do to a Raptor. Now before people get hot under the coller I am just having some fun so relax and have some fun to

Id put a stock 250r againts this beast. I bet it would dominate on MX , but prob lose in a drag, but thats not as important as overall handling and power like the 250r posesses and the raptor probably wont.

I agree, 2-stroke engines are incredible. A 250 2-stroke, stock, makes just as much power as a stock 400 4-stroke. Of course, you have to remember that a 2-stroke produces power on every cycle, instead of every two cycles on a four stroke. Also, 2-strokes are much higher maintenance, which is why I think manufacturers are concentrating on 4-stroke quads now (that and emissions).

You said highly modified, I'm not taking up for the Raptor, but I think this is the intention of the manufacturer, to produce a quad that a regular guy would feel comfortable with and not have to modifiy it. Most people who ride can get by with the stock motor and suspension for the life of the quad. Now as far as what I would like to have, Give me a Roll Designs 250r set up completely for xc and Harescrambles.

Two strokes are not higher maintainence. You are going to find that with a higher revving four stroke, you are going to be changing topends almost as much, changing oil more often, and adjusting valves. I have never adjusted the valves on my two-strokes. A more correct statement would be high performance engines require more maintainence that low performance engines. In the past, four strokes were low output put-put motors that ran forever. We are just now seeing 9000+ rev four strokes in the motorcycle/atv world. It is a good thing.

ridzhard, i hope you were joking when you said "I have never adjusted the vlaves on my 2 strokes" Because everyone knows 2 strokes dont have valves, cam shafts, timing chain, and all that useless crap. They are the most simple yet powerful engine available today.

"I have never adjusted the valves on my two stroke" hahahaha, tear it apart and look for those valves, and then when you find them adjust them.

we should all know that 2 strokes do not have valves but then some do have power-valves and don't forget about the reed valves

Yes, it was a joke, but the powervalves do require regular service. Good catch. I have never had to adjust my reed valves since I started using Marvel Mystery Oil for my muffler bearings. Man, that stuff is great.
