Default 2 stroke eating lots of fuel

My trike( which is a 2 stroke) is eating alot of gas. it is not leaking anywear and no liquid is coming out of the exhuast. I checked the plug and it shows no sign of it running to rich. is this normal considering a 2 stroke draws gas every two strokes. i am only comparing it to my 4 stroke. Is it normal for the 2stroke to burn more fuel.

More fuel + more air = more power

I'm getting a short track kit for my atc250r and the tank only holds 1.5 gallons, so with a esr 330 burning $7/gallon 114 it sucks gas. the stock tank holds 2.6, so I be getting gas twice as often(atleast it will be at the track, not in the middle of the woods)the price for fun, in the woods they are much better on gas, on a mx track, dunes, or fireroading, they guzzle it. the trikes use less gas than a quad atleast, my atc250r(when stock top end) burned a good bit less gas then my trx250r(stock cylinder). With a 330 on it,I don't think venturing far from the truck is something smart to do(even with a 4 gallon tank). Just thought about what sucks with the short track kits, I couldn't switch tanks if I wanted to(different rad. mounts and tank mounts), oh well a good excuse to build another 250r trike(woods bike, doesn't need the elka shock, wave rotors, mx tires, and a big tank won't look out of place, etc). When I used a stock tank on my trx250r I was always going back for gas, I did trails then, so the 4 gallon was a much better choice(despite what my friends thought about the "big, ugly tank" while they are worrying if they have enough gas to get back.
