do you believe this?

Lets say 50HP stock. Or 54 with this gizmo on it (8% gain). I don't think it would take 4 HP to turn the charging circuit. So no, I don't think you will pick up 4HP or their 8% gain. 1/2 horse, or so, mmmmmmmm........ok, I would go for that, but it just does not take that much HP to maintain a battery at almost full charge. Maybe they dropped the voltage down to 5 volts and then made their pull on the dyno?

In theory it should work. A stator does eat a little HP. I dunno about 8%, but it does eat some. But the results will vary depending on the current state of your battery at the time. Your ignition uses a little juice to run, so as soon as the battery drops down a bit, you will lose the gained hp. I would imagine if you are running your lights all the time, it may never show the increase in power.

acording to the bomb book it says the ds produces 290 watts from its stator/altenator.
1 kw= 1.341 horsepower 1 watt = .001341 HP X 290 = 0.3889 HP
I think thats right
you would of course have to factor in losses due to genarator inificiancy ect. ie if it produces heat it wastes energy
but i still dont see it taking 4 hp to make 290 watts
so i would doubt there claims
but if you need a new one any way it might be a good deal

I put one of the procom rectifiers on my wifes 440 ex and there was a noticeable difference in power but 8% seems like a bit of an exaggeration. We could tell a difference in the rate that her 440 went through rpms under a load up a sand hill so there was a performance increase .After seeing what the rectifier did for the wifes 440 i will probably be purchasing one for my baja.

For all of you people into this sort of thing. You can do the old drag racer thing and wire a simple switch into the field wire. When you race, switch open. When you are just tooling around, switch closed. For less than $5 bucks, you too can save a 1/2 a horse!!!!!!!!!!
