hey all,
Im actually a new 4 wheeler owner. For many years i been a bike man but since i got married i wanted something to play on and give my wife some thing to ride soi bought a 87 polaris 250 cyclone for a hundred bucks. It was a good deal...it ran ok pretty solid but decided to rebuild the top end. So i was wondering if anyone else has one and if ya do could ya send a pic let me see what its actually supposed to look like. The boy that had it before me went wild with the spray paint so let me know...and actually any info about the bike would be great
Thanks all

Welcome to the forums. You actually have a pretty fast machine on your hands. They were a lot faster than the current generation 250's. They had a clutch kit. performance pipe, aggressive porting, and a bigger carb all from the factory. They make 32hp@7,000 rpm, which the current 250's make 22hp@5,850 rpm. The cyclones are also 60 lbs lighter than the current TB250.

I had two of them. One was a runner and one for parts. The parter one donated it's top end and carb to my wifes Explorer 250. The other I sold to my buddy who still has it. It is faster than a 400 TBlazer and my 500 Scrammy. It has a great power band. The pipe on all I have seen(at least 10) get real hot and like to melt the plastic on the side. It's common. They are a little out dated looking, but the are longer wider and lower than most of todays sport quads. It was a very stable ride. Look into the clutches real good. New springs may be in order if they are original. There is a old picture of ours in my photo page. I still have a lot of respect for that ride.

Oh yeah, get yourself a Clymer manual for the older Polarises. Polaris did not make a manual for and the Clymer was worth it's weight in synthetic oil. lol. And welcome to the forums.
