Default 04 Grizz sputtering

I just put on a set of 26" mudlites k&n filter and a billet exhaust tip took it out for a ride and it ran perfict untill I shut it off to cool down. It would start normal but soon as I would start to ride it would sputter for about a minite then run fine again. I took off the side vents and it didn't do it anymore. It never did this before I put on the accecessories could they cause this problem. It only has 98km on it, should I maybe run the stock tip and filter until it is broken in. When would you recommend the first oil change, I went to the dealer and 1 guy said 100km and the other said 500km .

I don't think it should be heat related as yamaha has tackled that issue with the 04 models. I would take it back for warranty and get the tech's to check out the carb on it. On the older models boiling gas inside the gas tank caused the sputtering problem. I had only seen this once on my buds quad, it was 32 above last summer and we were bogged down in a mud hole for 1/2 hour trying to get him out. The manual suggests that your first oil change to be done @ 320 kms or 20 hours and then every 2400 kms or 150 hours. When in doubt refer to your owners manual and tell your dealers to do the same.

if you have winter blend gas, thatll do it. A winter blend has more of the lighter volitile vapors, and when the weather warms up, it boils out easier than a summer blend. It should go away, once this tank full is gone.

I went out again yeasterday and it was doing it again, unless I would take the seat off while it was cooling.

Cheeky

Take it back to the dealer for warranty. It's nowhere near hot enough to be a problem with heat. Why fight it when the properly trained technicians @ your yammy dealer are paid to do. It sounds like the heating problem on the older grizzlies but they have took measures to fix this problems on the 04 models.
