Default Anybody ridden an RD?

I was just wondering if anybody has ridden an RD350, i know its not exactly the same motor as the shee, but i was just wondering what it would be like. I know it wouldnt be anything spectacular, after all, its only about 40hp, but from the way my shee rides, i have a feeling it would definately be a one-of-a-kind feeling for a streetbike. Just curious.

I took an RD 350 for a spin about 10 years ago. Maybe it was an RZ. Sportbike version. It was a hoot. Had power that was similar to a Banshee but really wan't as much of an on-off switch powerband-wise. The bike was light and nimble and was a real confidence inspiring ride. I loved it, especially the sound of that two stroke going down the street.

Now didn't that have a different type of ignition or something? I remember a few years ago on here some people were looking for them in junkyards to take off the stator and coils or some darned thing.....I don't know....

I have the streetbike and im also putting a built up RD engine in my warrior. The streetbikes arent all that fast but they are quick. They weigh almost nothing and have about 29hp stock. That flies up with pipes though because the stockers are horrible (not even real expansion chambers). Even with the stock hp they will run 115mph and bring up the front tire in 1st 2nd and 3rd when you dont want too while getting to 60 in around 5 seconds (ive seen claims of 4, I think it relies on how good at keeping it on the groudn you are). Ofcourse they take to modification the same way a banshee does, only difference being its aircooled so you cant run as much compression. You can use banshee pistons, reeds (requires cylinder modifications), bearings, I think the tranny if you wanted too, and probably more that I forgot. Cranks even drop in except the banshee ignition system is different so the flywheel ends are different. If you want to look up some really mean bikes though, look up the TZ250 and TZR250. Im pretty sure they're still in production. Ive heard the powerband is wicked though and it would be heck to ride on the street.
