Hand warmer?
#1
Not really a Cat question, but since I have a Cat I thought I would post it here, my hand warmers stopped working yesterday, looked over my wiring and found the culprit, the wire coming out of the reducer(think that is what it is called) that little white ceramic thing broke clean off of one side, (on the warmer wiring) my question is do I have to buy a new set to replace this little piece or can I go to Radio Shack or something and get a new piece? Thanks for any help, if you need more info just ask. They are the kind of warmers that you just take off your grips and tape onto the bars then put your grips back on.

just soldier the wire back on,start with a drop of soldier onto whatever amount of wire that is sticking out of the resister . remount the resister where it will not get a lot of vibration. by the way they get real hot when working.

my hand warmers did the same thing and i got a new reducer at my cat dealer for around eight bucks.
my dealer said the reason it melted is because i had it on low for to long and it overheated.
so now i if i use just the hi and shut it off when it gets to hot.

roscoe there was no wire sticking out, so I just took the resistor out for now so I will only have 2 high settings and an off, I ordered the proper one from a dealer here 5 bucks or something, it is still a bit chilly here in the mornings so they ear nice to have, and yes they do get hot, I have to shut them off sometines to cool my hands off, but it is better than freezing.

doober
i was refering to the resister getting hot, it has to be placed where it is safe from damaging other wires etc. and yes the heated grips do get hot sometimes too hot. good price for the replacement resister.
