Some people that run just in the sand or drag rasing go without an airbox, but if you do any trail or mud and dirt riding you may want to keep the airbox on.
1. If you're looking for a cheap pipe, try e-bay. Just remember, you get what you pay for
2. If all you do is put a slip-on on, you may not have to, but you will probably be running a bit lean.
3. If you do any other modifications which increase air flow, you will definately have to re-jet or you will destroy your motor.

HMF makes a good slip. If you add a K&N Filter and a outerwear you will need to jet up. www.hmfengineering.com

They have a reasonable price on slip on's and you should get good performance.

I think he ment that if you do intake/exhaust mods and dont re-jet then you could destroy your engine. Hes probably going on the fact that the engine would run lean after the mods and not jetting accordingly

If you increase your airflow and don't rejet your motor will run lean and lean motor run alot hotter. Also it is point less adding more air if you don't add more fuel you won't gain any HP you will probably loose it instead

Like Caliraptor said, you increase the airflow without rejeting, when the engine gets too lean you melt the piston, and possibly sieze the engine.
