Checking Oil on 300EX

I just bought a 300EX, but the dealer who got it for me from another dealership forgot to pick up the manual. Does the 300EX have any special method to check the oil such as my 400EX? Warm or cold...cap screwed in or not? 300EX owners...please advise. Thanks!
