250R O-ring
#1
I have an 86 250R. I just took off the pipe that was on it to put on a new on and it look like there is a spot on the exhuast flange for an O-ring. I looked on the old pipe and couldn't find one. Is there supposed to be one there? Thanks

i will have to check if mine is there. i have a little leek when i rev it up to like 7000 rpm's. Can u explane what all is suppose to be there. i know there is a ring that bolts to the engine and then 2 springs hold the pipe on. (i can't remeber what els when i toot it off) i should paint it or i'am thinking about ceramic coating it

yes there is a big steel snap ring and also a little exhaust gasket also. go to your local honda dealer and get them. I havent had any luck with the aftermarket getting these 2 things right.

I found that even with a new exhause ring my exhaust still leaked. Some of the better pipes will seal better but most do not, the good ones use a gasket in the pipe. Try using some high temp. gasket compound/silicone. I think Permatex(spelling?) makes some good stuff.

I found the cure to a leaky exhaust manifold was to replace it with RPM's machined manifold that uses 2 hi-temp o-rings, instead of the single steel ring that the stock flange uses. I never had much luck in getting a stock flange to seal up for very long, no matter how much hi-temp RTV was used. The RPM flange is a bit expensive, but works! I have one on both of my 250R's and neither leaks a drop.
