does anyone know what the part is callled the u turn to adjust the chain tension on the 300ex ? first ytou loosen the to bolts and the rear of the swingarm then the part u turn to adjust the chain is the part i need to know what it is called . mine is cracked and i thiink it caused my chain to break. let me know thanks

You mean the bearing carrier? You loosen two allen bolts, than you spin the axle and the chain will tighten, you do need a tool to put in the slot to turn it though. I would suggest getting a manual.

 

i know how to tighten then chain . my question is whats is the part called the has the slots in it that u turn to ajust the chain tension called ? its it part of the whole carrier or is it just a single peice ? thanks

why don't you go to the dealer to order one they have a parts list that you can look at and get the right name first order.

 

Mine also has a crack but I can't see how it could cause your chain to break!

 

the chain could break because of the cracked (whatever its called) may loosen to where the chain gets to loose and breaks.

 

But if the 2 lock down bolts in the axle carrier are tight how can the chain loosen?

 

well i am pretty sure the chain came loose and broke that way. i am now replaceing the whole alxe carrier and getting a new chain. thanks everyone

Don't buy that unit at the dealer. The stock unit is not well made and they will rape you on the price. Look on EBAY for after market units that are much better and at times cheaper. If you don't have an account you can usuall contact the seller direct and purchase that way. I just bought 2 for my bikes @ $100 each with double bearings.
