Default 250R Blowing Headlight Lamps

I'm having a problem with my R blowing headlight lamps. A while back the stator went out and was replaced with a new 200 watt Ricky Stator. This stator from day one seemed to be lacking output power at low speed and normal at high speed. If the voltage regulator is shorted could I be supplying to much voltage to the headlight causing them to burn out in 5 seconds. I believe the regulator is the main problem. The next question is will a stock regulator handle the 200 watt stator.

Any input is welcome

Thanks Glenn

Check with Ricky Stator, he is pretty quick in responding by email. I am also considering this setup, so let me know how it turns out.

The regulator was the problem. Just wanted some feed back before spending the money. Thanks too all who responded.
