This is the thing I never want to hear.... 'can I try it out just once?' And its hard to turn people down especially when its family, but I really dont want people on my bike, especially people who have never even drivin a quad. What do you say to people who ask to take the quad for a spin?

Like someone else's signature quote says here in the forums

"Yes, it's fast. No, you can't ride it"

I had a kid sitting on my Warrior once, all admiring and wowing (yes that DOES happen to Warrior owners). His ATV was an old honda bigred 250, and he has a yamaha 80 dirt bike too .. 4 stroker jobbie, not sure what model, but fairly new .. 2002/03??

He was going on about how he'd love to have one and I said "can you operate a clutch?" he says "Yeah, I got a dirt bike", so I say to him go for a ride then ... well you should have seen his face!! He thought I was BS'n him and asked if I was joking, and I said no .. go for a ride .. just don't kill yourself!! So he pulled on his helmet and off he went .. didn't go far or ride hard or anything like that, but it sure made his day. He was 12 and probably close on 150 or 160 pounds with more riding experience than I have .. felt nice to do that for him. Imagine if I owned a Raptor or other prestige quad .. I say no or do you have $6,000.00 cash I can hold while you ride it..
Went riding one day, and some guy that was riding with us that I know breifly sat on my quad and said that this is really nice, He looked at the ignition and saw that there was no key. He looked at me and said where is the key?
I looked at him and said its in my pocket, he said I guess I'm not going to ride it, and I said you guessed right, and he got off.
I work to hard to keep my stuff nice to let someone tear it up..Just say 'NO' machine stays intact everybody remains friends.

Your totally right about thr friends.
Recking someones stuff and then owing them money is what ruins friendships.
I say lets everyone jsut ride there own stuff and have fun.

In our group of riders we often borrow machines from one onother. We have a simple rule. break it you buy it no hard feelings. Most of us have been riding together for ten years or more and have never had a problem. Both parties inspect the machine before it leaves. We ride rocks and mud in central mo so few of us are worried about how pretty our quads look. So scratches dont count. If the machine needs a little maintainance before we return it. its done. And never return one dirty. As far a relatives go. It depends on how close a relative it is. A broken machine can never seperate close familys.

That is a good relationship you seem to have with your fellow riders,, which is nice, but go out and buy a brand new quad say maybe 5-6-7 thousands dollars. Let me come over and run it between some trees that it won't fit through, then run through thick brush all day , maybe roll it a couple of times, But i did not break anything maybe a small bend in a rack or foot peg. Roll it in a mud hole dull the new finish up a little bit. I will wash it off and give it back with plastic that is so scratched up it looks like it is 10 years old.
Mechanically sound like it was when I left. Sorry,,, I have a good relationship with all my buddies also.... but I say Ride what you brought.
