Ok I am going to sound like a Newbie here for a minute. Whats a good tire for running in the desrt type terrain? I am considering:

Kenda Klaws
Kenda Knarly's
Pure Sports Bandits
Maxxis Razr2'S
Itp Holeshots

I think my quad is redrilled for the yammy bolt pattern, I can find most of these in the 22" height but only 8" rim size available. have any of you ran the 8" rims on a 22' tire? I am thinking that leaves for some tall sidewalls to get punctured and could also have some bad roll out while cornering.

I would also be up for some that somebody has sitting in there garage!!!

 

I race desert in AZ My tire of choice is the ITP Holeshot XCT 6 ply
I have had good luck with them …slammed a few cacti with no flats

have you seen the new desert tire from scat trac? i've always liked the itp

 

I think they were running the kevlar bandits in Baja, 10" rim

 

I use to race with Pure Sports I went to a Kenda Knarly and will never go back to the Pure Sports. I run the Kendas on my YFZ450 and 250r and have not got a flat tire yet racing Desert. I would always get sidewall punctures with the Pure Sport Bandits. They also weigh a ton!


You can get a 9in. Wheel with a Yamaha bolt pattern!

 

Didn't the new honda 450 quad run ITP holeshot XCT's in the baja and win with no flats. I myself run the XCT's in rear and the XCR's in front, but for desert racing I would run XCT's on all 4 corners.
